About
The company started as a budding idea in late 2015 when, then high students, Garrett Strpko and Jacob McDowell began their path to becoming filmmakers. The two began making fun videos and short films for class projects and for their friends and family, as well as interning with local media production company Flipbook Moving Pictures. From there they went on to study at Calvin College and Michigan State University. The summer after their first year at college the two, along with their new friend Ben Eizenga, officially founded the company Smoke Break Pictures as they began pre-production on their debut short film Peak.
Now, well onset into their college career, the three have begun to expand their work within SBP as well as individually. Many taking on projects or jobs individually to expand and sharpen their skills and their craft.

Ben Eizenga
Ben studies Film with a minor in Business at Calvin College, where he also works for it's in-house production studio.

Jacob mcDowell
Jacob is currently attending Michigan State University studying Film production with an IT minor. He works for ASMSU as their Director of IT.

Aside from studying Film and Philosophy at Calvin College, Garrett also works part-time at the Rhetoric Center.
